TORONTO, Dec. 21, 2016 /CNW/ – Today, Ingle International celebrate its 70th anniversary in the insurance industry. Founded by John and Muriel Ingle in 1946, Ingle Insurance provided health coverage for new immigrants and visitors to Canada after World War II. Within the first decade of Ingle Insurance opening its doors, they became well known for their multilingual abilities, provided Canadian and international student health insurance and travel insurance in the ’50s, and expanded to the Caribbean. Their business grew to 5.5 million members between the ’80s and late ’90s. John and Muriel’s son, Robin Ingle, first appeared in insurance ads as a child. He joined the family business formally in 1976, and sold Ingle Insurance in 1998. In 2003, he retained the Ingle name and re-entered the Canadian insurance market with Ingle International. He operates as CEO and Chairman today. Ingle International’s head office is located in Toronto, Canada with offices in Montreal, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Paris, Valletta, and Mexico City.
Over the past 13 years, Ingle International has continued to grow into areas of business that span travel and student insurance, emergency medical and security assistance, health care services, technology and creative media. All of which can be found on the Ingle International website and blog.
Robin Ingle says, “I credit our 70th anniversary milestone to my parents. He continues, “My father and mother came from hard-working mining and farming backgrounds in Ontario. It was a different experience for my mother because she came from Finland as a child. Together, they decided to change their future by getting an education in insurance and finance. After graduation, they went on to fill the gap in the health insurance sector for new immigrants, students and travellers.”
